The Right Stuff
Selecting the right Direct Marketing company is essential for your success. If you pick the wrong one, you will spend hundreds to thousands of dollars to “jump start” your business, and will spend thousands more with little success.
There are 4 important ingredients to picking the right company.
PRODUCT:
I can’t count the number of times I have been asked to sell Personal Improvement Programs, Health foods, Drinks that claim to do miracles, or personal protection products. I suppose all of them are valid products, but I could not get behind them. Ask me about our products.To be successful you need to find a product that engages you on an emotional level and is a product you would give to your friends and families.
Ask yourself, "Would I buy this product if I weren't in the sales organization?" If the answer to that is no, think twice about the opportunity.
COMPANY:
As you know there are some HUGE MLM or Direct Marketing companies out there. Some have been around for 50+ years and they still do well. And if you have sufficient patience, you can still build a career with these guys. The Business.There are also companies that are here today and gone tomorrow.
The best companies to work for are those that have already beaten the odds and are stable, growing, and still expanding their market. This provides you a great opportunity to grow with them without thinking you are waiting for people to be born that have not heard of the opportunity yet.
MANAGEMENT:
I have seen companies come and go. The best stick around because of good management.Great products cannot be sold if bad management has squandered all their profits, or do not understand the basic needs of not running out of product all the time. If the representatives of a company are talking up the management, it is a good sign that the company will be around a long time.
TOOLS:
Ok, so you have a product you believe in, you found a company that is stable and is a rising star, and their management is making good decisions, but are you empowered to succeed?The right tools and training make all the difference when building your business. Imagine making a car without a wrench? Just can’t happen. It is the same with a career in Direct Marketing, tools help you grow, find success, and achieve your dreams. Dude.. is this for real?
Yeah, it can be. It CAN BE. I won’t make you any promises. Even this great opportunity needs to be understood before so you can have the RIGHT EXPECTATIONS of what it means to work from home as a Direct Marketer.
But it is for real.
I personally know dozens of people that have added hundreds to thousands of dollars a month to their income and they work as little as 10 hours a month! Those that have been much more aggressive or have been in the company for a long time are making five figure monthly salaries.
So what’s the million dollar answer to starting a direct marketing career and making bank? Right now, there really is not a right or wrong answer. People’s needs, wants, and desires vary so widely that no single formula can ever supply all the answers. But from working with several MLM companies, and having friends that have written software solutions for some of the big names in the industry, I have picked up a few tips. Ask me about my tips.
The simple truth is establishing the proper expectations and ethics for this industry. After all, you would not expect to become a brain surgeon by reading a few books and eating a lot of steak… right?
Then how can you expect to become a great marketer if you do not spend time learning about your trade, perfecting your skills, and investing in your future!
Is it too late?
You can still achieve a huge income, if you are willing to invest the time, energy, and yes, some money to making it succeed. There are always stories (very true stories) of that 1 in a 1000 person who jumped in at the right time and had a million dollar a year income dropped in their lap with little or no work.
It is also true that the many people jump in and out of Direct Marketing companies so fast that they never make their money back. In fact, the average, non-committed, person that tries Direct marketing will fail 93% of the time.
I don’t throw that out to scare you, but to help you understand the commitment needed these days in the industry.
But there are ways to offset the risks involved.
